Our teams

APMC is run by students. The board leads the club, and five teams carry the work – from marketing and events to the conference and our company contacts.

The board leads the club. Five teams carry the work; Strategic Development and Relations each have sub-teams.

01

Marketing

Marketing makes APMC visible. You run our Instagram and LinkedIn, capture our events in photos and videos and design flyers and posters in our brand style. You also keep the Job Wall up to date: every two weeks the team reviews internships and jobs with an Asia-Pacific focus and publishes the best ones.

What you do

  • Plan and create posts for Instagram and LinkedIn
  • Take photos and short videos at events
  • Design flyers and posters in our brand style
  • Publish new roles on the Job Wall

What you take away

  • Content creation and storytelling
  • Design in a consistent brand style
  • Work that students and companies alike see
  • Social media

Strategic Development

  • IT & Infrastructure

Strategic Development looks at where APMC is heading. You work closely with the board on the club's long-term goals, improve how we work together and make sure new members get off to a good start. The IT & Infrastructure sub-team runs our website, e-mail accounts and digital tools.

What you do

  • Develop goals and priorities for the coming semesters with the board
  • Improve processes, onboarding and knowledge transfer between generations
  • Evaluate events and member feedback
  • IT & Infrastructure: maintain the website, e-mail accounts and our workspace

What you take away

  • Strategic thinking and project work
  • Organisational development in a growing club
  • Hands-on experience with web and IT tools
  • Strategy
  • Processes
  • Onboarding

Culture & Events

Culture & Events brings the club together. You plan the events where members meet outside the lecture hall: potlucks with dishes from home, tea ceremonies, cooking evenings and trips such as our Heidelberg trip. Many events are open to all students, and some are organised together with other initiatives in Mannheim.

What you do

  • Collect ideas and plan the semester calendar
  • Book locations, shop and run the evening
  • Organise trips and day excursions
  • Work with other student initiatives

What you take away

  • Event planning with budget and timeline
  • Intercultural exchange first-hand
  • A community with members from many countries
  • Potlucks
  • Trips
  • Dinners
  • Joint events

Conference

The Conference team builds our biggest event of the year: the APMC Conference in March. Around ten people shape it from the ground up, from the topic and programme to speakers, sponsors and the day itself. Attendance is free for guests, so winning sponsors is a central part of the work.

What you do

  • Define the topic and the programme
  • Invite speakers and panellists
  • Win sponsors and partners
  • Plan venue, registration and the event day

What you take away

  • Running a large project as a team
  • Negotiating with sponsors
  • Direct contact with speakers and decision-makers

Relations

  • National
  • International

Relations is our link to companies and institutions. The National sub-team works with companies in Germany and turns a first contact into a keynote, workshop or office visit. The International sub-team builds connections to Asian companies, chambers of commerce, universities and student organisations abroad. You work in small groups, and each group looks after its contacts from the first e-mail to the follow-up.

What you do

  • Research companies and speakers with an Asia-Pacific focus
  • Write outreach e-mails and hold first calls
  • Plan keynotes, workshops and office visits
  • International: build partnerships with organisations in Asia

What you take away

  • Professional communication with companies
  • Project management from first contact to event
  • A network in business you keep beyond your studies
